Even before the current health crisis, iaelyon had been exploring and piloting online mobility initiatives in order to continue to provide intercultural and international opportunities for all of our students.

Before COVID-19 arrived in 2020, a pilot project was proposed by Higher School of Economics, St Petersburg, a valued partner of iaelyon in Russia, to explore how iaelyon could do virtual business cases with our partners and their students. The pilot involved four iaelyon students working together with four students of the Higher School of Economics St Petersburg in carrying out a business case for L’Oréal Russia, and was finalized at the end of May 2020.

Based on the positive feedback that last year’s pilot received, iaelyon is delighted to have carried out the 2nd edition of the COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) business case with HSE St. Petersburg, with the support of Pernod Ricard and their Russian subsidiary.

iaelyon, HSE and Pernod Ricard, and the dynamic business case

The 18 students – 9 from iaelyon, 9 from HSE- were divided into three groups in late April and were asked to undertake an in-depth analysis of the marketing potentials of Jameson Black Barrel whisky, including an analysis of improving the presence of Pernod Ricard in the premium whisky market in Russia, and to produce a 20 minute presentation where they explained their results, as well as a written report and a poster.

The nine students from iaelyon were:

Students presented their results and work on Thursday 3rd June to the marketing team of Pernod Ricard Russia, who were thoroughly impressed by the quality and depth of the work carried out by the students of iaelyon and HSE.

“It was really interesting to do this project because it tackled many different subjects – marketing, communication, finance – so we were able to learn from one another because everyone had their specialties, which was great!” Camille BOYEAU

“I got to work on a subject that I know very little about (spirits), in a territory that was completely foreign to me, with people of a completely different culture” Léa BIDAULT
iaelyon would like to take this opportunity to thank Tatiana Grishchenko, as well as her school, the HSE St Petersburg, for their valued partnership with iaelyon and including us in their project, and Pernod Ricard, for bringing such an interesting and dynamic business case to the students.
